JBT currently has a great opportunity for an Apprentice Machinist to join the Proseal . 


Proseal is a company that designs and manufactures high quality tray sealing and conveying systems for the food industry and has manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America and Australia. Having been established for over 20 years, demand for the Proseal product is growing and we are responsible for developing many plastic based alternatives for preserving the life of and carrying food safely. Formed in 1998, Proseal has not only become the leading manufacturer of tray sealing machinery and tooling in the UK but is now also recognised as a major force internationally with manufacturing facilities in United states and Australia along with offices in Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, South America, Dubai and Russia.


  • To complete a program of training to be conducted within all relevant departments throughout the business
  • Fitting and assembly skills including the use of power tools, hand tools and marking out.
  • Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances
  • Training in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using proprietary software packages
  • Attendance at college on a day release basis leading to recognised NVQ qualifications over a four year period.
  • Carrying out such tasks and duties as directed by the Training Manager that will contribute to the requisite levels of performance and competence.
  • Continuous improvements in the processes and service we offer
  • To undertake any other duties required by management to meet the needs of the business
  • Keep up to date with new technologies or process procedures.
  • Provide feedback on common problems and advise on latent defects
  • Develop and maintain the customer relationship.
  • You must understand and carry out Health and Safety requirements.
  • You will ensure all college work, log books etc. are kept up to date, in accordance with the apprenticeship requirements and are regularly checked by the Supervisor


  • You will have completed a Minimum qualification in Maths and English
  • You will be required to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, with good communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with customers
  • You must be flexible to working hours and location as you may be required to work away from home providing all safety and qualifying conditions are met.
  • You should possess a High degree of reliability, flexibility and self-motivation.
